Evaluation of an accessible and affordable neurorehabilitation program to promote recovery and to enhance quality of life after stroke (RESTRO)
The focus of the RESTRO project is to improve the quality of life of persons with stroke in three underprivileged, low-income regions: Hebron, a Palestinian city in the southern part of Palestine and the Negev located in the south of Israel. The RESTRO project unites researchers from Israel, Jordan and Palestine in a joint effort to investigate and advance neurorehabilitation methods to improve upper extremity motor impairments, activity and quality of life after stroke. The project will serve to collect much needed data regarding the status of rehabilitation services in the three communities, to promote the recovery process after stroke (as gauged by behavioral measurements), and to explore the feasibility and effectiveness of a culturally-adapted hybrid training program (combined standard care and telecare) to enhance upper extremity sensorimotor recovery after stroke. The project aims to integrate into clinical practice the use of measurement and intervention methods in stroke rehabilitation and to facilitate the implementation of accessible and affordable neurorehabilitation technologies.
