Environmental projects

The Green Land Society for Health Development (GLSHD) identifies environmental awareness and intervention as one of its core objectives. In response to growing environmental challenges in Palestine, GLSHD has implemented several impactful projects aimed at fostering sustainable practices and promoting ecological responsibility within communities.

Establishment of an Environmental Education Center in Idna (2016 – 2017)

GLSHD founded the Environmental Educational Center, officially recognized by the Ministry of Education as an accredited learning facility. The center serves as a dynamic platform for environmental education, hosting thousands of schoolchildren, university students, and youth groups who participate in hands-on activities and workshops focused on:
•    Recycling and Waste Sorting
•    Composting and Sustainable Agriculture
•    Electronic Waste Hazards and Safe Disposal
•    Consumerism and Ecological Footprint
•    Global Warming and Climate Change
•    Solid Waste Management
•    Renewable Energy Solutions
The center has also served as a training hub for summer camps, equipping young participants with active recycling skills, environmental advocacy tools, and opportunities to engage in competitions and cleanup campaigns. These included initiatives such as clearing electronic waste burning sites and replacing them with green spaces and tree planting.
In addition, the center has become a collaborative platform for broader environmental initiatives, working closely with municipalities, the Ministry of Environment, and various local organizations to promote sustainable development, environmental justice, and community engagement.

Awareness campaigns in homes, streets and shops about the effects of burning e- waste on health and environment (2016)

GLSHD distributed leaflets and flyers in areas of Idna, Deir Sammit and Beit Awwa, as well as they had displayed large paintings, billboards  and posters in the main streets there, promoting the idea of preventing the burning of electronic waste and showing its impact on health and environment.
